The first Breathing Space exhibition was in 2016 when Bundaberg artist Christine Turner invited five artists from the Wide Bay Area of Queensland to exhibit alongside her in a city based gallery space - Graydons Gallery in Brisbane. In November we will be back at Graydon Gallery with 'Breathing Space' 3 with five of the original artists plus this time welcoming Wilhelmus Breikers

My synthetic poster prints were created in an attempt to find new ways of manipulating photographic

images and their meanings. A damaged shop mannequin can become a domestic goddess.

                       TREVOR SPOHR

I plan to extend the concept of the sculpture forms started last year.

"Trevor Spohr is a Maryborough artist and one of those enigmatic souls who can interpret texture/ line/ form/ colour and                                materials into any of his chosen mediums whether it is ceramic, etching or bronze. That fine line between the drawn or                                  perceived image immediately can take on the the third dimension of space, form and materials, often inspired from the                                purely geometric he can soften the concept by shifting his fields of vision from one medium to another"                                                          Jennifer McDuff

                         JENNIFER McDUFF

" Jennifer loves the process of making art and the order of it. She ponders over the feel of her materials, how best to use                               them, how to combine disparate pieces. She is keenly aware of her environment and how one chooses to care for it, to                                 ignore or despoil it. She likes to be challenged, to reassess and be surprised by her work."                                                                             Anne Grocott .. from 'Milestones'

                           WILHELMUS BREIKERS

My work develops from landscapes and ideas that touch my interest, and includes drawings, paintings and photographic                              works.I find breathing space through making art.

The pictures in this exhibition are about; the tragedy of war, toleration and seeing the other view, power and about finding                            common ground in difference.

                           CATHERINE McCUE BOES

The girls own series, is part of an ongoing project started in 2018, the images are inspired by women, dead and or living                              who have contributed in some way to the world I live in.

The works have been produced using wood lithography, "Mokulito" this is a medium used by Japanese artists. For some                              time I have been experimenting with this fascinating medium and find it conveys my intentions as a printmaker and book                              artist extremely well.

                           SUSAN HUTTON

This year for Breathing Space I'll be showing digital drawings created on my iPad and printed on rag paper with                                             archival inks. I call them my stream of consciousness drawings, I never know where the line will lead me when I begin.                                 Also some small encaustic wax paintings, I enjoy the multitude of techniques you can experiment with on the wax surface.
